Our new obsession around here is Hansel and Gretel. The boys saw the Little Einstein's version on T.V. which has a 'scary' green witch. (she's actually quite smiley and funny) Anyway, whenever it comes on, they go crazy WANTING to watch the witch, NOT WANTING to watch the witch. It's hysterical.
So we went to the library yesterday to find the book of Hansel and Gretel. Nate marched right up to the librarian in the children's section. "Hansel and Gretel!" he said to her. She searched and found a rather scary copy. Chris and Nate wanted it nonetheless, so we brought it home. Unlike the t.v. version, this one has the scary, old, hunched-over lady with long crooked fingers. (I remember being scared of her as a child, too) Chris was especially freaked out by the book, and on the way home, all he kept saying was "talk about the lady!" When we 'read' it together on the couch (well, look at the pictures and make up a bit nicer story than was written), Chris would literally turn his back and look the other way.......then turn around to take yet another peek at the old lady. He WANTED to see the old lady, then DIDN'T WANT to see the lady.
We'll continue to work through this one.
