Spring snow!

We had snow this morning! The boys at at this house couldn't resist getting out and in it. I think the sidewalk might have been just a bit dry for the snow discs, you think?Catching snowflakes on their tongues...notice the daffodils and tulips in the background? It is March 28th, after all.Catching a ride with daddy........it was fun while it lasted!

upper case lip

We do lots of talking about letters around here....
Last night Nate woke up complaining that he needed some chapstick on his "upper case" lip.

Thomas on Tuesdays

Tuesday evening is when we put our recycling out. Ever since we moved here 2+ years ago, we have always seen the same man riding his cruiser bike with baskets around the neighborhood collecting cans and bottles for recycling. We've always been kind of lazy about returning them to the store, but were more than happy to put them at the curb for whoever wants them. Well, Thomas wants them---- and now we set them aside especially for him.
We noticed that he lives only 2 blocks down, and has lived in this neighborhood for years. He cruises around and collects cans for a little extra income in his retirement. Of course, the boys think he's pretty cool, and I think that he always enjoys his stop at our house every Tuesday evening around 5:40.....not just just for the cans and bottles, but for the two cute boys that always run out to help him! He always rides away from here with a chuckle,a smile on his face, and a few extra dollars in his pocket.
We always love it, too. There goes Thomas with his bag full, and Nate is heading back inside to finish his dinner. See you next Tuesday, Thomas!

easy riders

It's all about bike riding around here. Dan has been taking Chris and Nate to Alberta Park so that they can do their riding on the bike-polo court. Chris checks his tires, while Nate whizzes by.
Chris is the first one to cross the finish, and Nate comes next.

Happy Anniversary

Today is our 5th year wedding anniversary. I love you, Daniel!

eggs at the park

This morning was the Concordia neighborhood Easter egg hunt at Fernhill Park. The weather cooperated and lots of kids were there to find some eggs!
A sea of eggs awaits Nate, as he waits with daddy holding his hand. Wait until the lady sounds the horn!
Checking over our loot after the big hunt. Nate won an extra prize since one of his eggs had a prize ticket in it. Lucky him!

sharing candy at Neil Kelly

We have a favorite tradition of visiting daddy at Neil Kelly and passing out candy for Halloween and Easter. Today we went to the office and shared some chocolates with all of the workers. All of the regulars seem to really enjoy seeing the boys and how they've grown in the past 6 months, and we enjoy seeing them, too.
We seem to always miss Byron on these visits, so we put the boys in his chair and take a picture. However, today he was actually there! He wanted to get some tackle time in with the boys. So he had them run and tackle.........as tough as they could.......
.........Watch out! Here comes trouble.
It was all fun and games until Nate did his last tackle run, and somehow ended up with his tongue cut in two places, and blood oozing out. Thanks, Byron. Maybe next time we'll stick to candy delivery. :)

Stitch and Trader Joe's

We love our Trader Joe's store (who doesn't love it?), and our favorite thing about it is that they hide a Stitch doll, and give out a prize to kids who find him hiding somewhere in the store. This morning we went shopping and found Stitch right away hanging above the produce department! You would think that the boys won the million dollar lottery by the way they get so excited once he has been found. They tell everyone in sight!
Here's Nate being silly with Tony, our favorite T.J.'s worker. Somehow we befriended him when the boys were about 9 months old, and he's been our buddy every since. It seems like he's always working on the days that we go shopping there. The boys adore him, and I think he's pretty cool, too.
Here's Stitch. Not a very good picture, because he was up so high. Searching for Stitch makes shopping fun!

4 years ago today...

....we brought these little turkeys home from the NICU. They were so TINY!

wearing our green

Happy St. Patrick's Day! We went to the Kennedy School to celebrate our Irish heritage and join in the celebration with lots of others from the neighborhood. The boys had a crazy good time, and were completely wound up. Here they are with our neighbor Finn, their favorite new 'big guy'...they danced a jig on the bench together.
Some crazy leprechauns ran through the halls and tossed out gold coins which whipped all of the kids into a frenzy of chasing them...We almost lost a few boys in the chaos. They watched the Irish dancers, did their own Irish dancing, and listened to the bagpipe.
Sitting outside cooling down from all of the excitement on the front steps. Another fun holiday for the Moore boys, although they don't understand why they didn't see a real leprechaun!

lookin' good

Our regular hair-cutting gal Mimi is on maternity leave, and the boys were in need of haircuts...so I decided to do the job myself. They actually turned out pretty darn good for a first go at it. Here's Nate getting his trim. I think i'll add hairdresser to my mama resume'.

bonified bike riders!

I guess they didn't need training wheels! Both boys rode their bikes today, complete with peddling and brakes. We are all feeling very proud! Good work Chris and Nate..... and of course their bike coach, Daddy.

the party continues....

The boys had their birthday celebration with friends this afternoon at Pump It Up Jr. We could tell that everyone had a great time, by their sweaty little heads and red faces! Everyone sings the birthday song to Nate in the big throne chair.
Chris feeling like a king as everyone sings to him, too.
Hey, party animals! Everyone with their party snacks and being social.
It wouldn't be a party without cupcakes...........yum!
Chris and Nate bouncing the afternoon away. It's so much fun turning 4!
What a handsome little guy, isn't he?
On your mark, get set, go! The boys are on a race through the obstacle course. We are lucky to have such great friends to celebrate this special day with.

How cute is this?

I just couldn't resist sharing this awesome banner that the boys got for their birthday from our friend and neighbor, Autumn. She is amazingly crafty and makes these banners by hand. I absolutely love it, and cherish the idea that it will always come out for birthdays around here in the years to come.
Autumn and her husband Dan are in the process of adopting a baby girl from Ethiopia (to join brother Rhett, age 3). She sells these on her ETSY website to help raise money to pay for the many expenses of adoption. Interested? You can custom order whatever words you want,(holidays, names, etc.) and the colors. They are the perfect gift idea! Thanks so much Autumn! We love it. :)
Check her work out here......http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=19585 Let's keep her busy making the cutest banners in the world, and support a great cause!

Almost 4!

We worked on the collages that Chris and Nate will share on Friday with their preschool class for their birthday. I cut, they glued. Auntie Leann will be in town for the weekend, and will be spending Friday in the classroom with us, since it's my parent help day. That will be really fun!

Tim was here!

Big Tim (or as Nate now refers to him, 'Uncle Tim') was in town from Tampa for the weekend, and we sure had lots of fun with him!
Uncle Tim is the BEST at building the train set. He can make amazing tracks and actually looks to be having as much fun as the boys when building it!
Building in the basement. Big Tim knows how to have a good time!
Tim's favorite cake is Carrot Cake, so we made him one for a surprise since his flight was SO late arriving in Portland.

We wanted to take our friend from sunny Florida up to see the snow, so on Sunday a.m. we drove to Mt. Hood and went to Timberline Lodge to play in the snow. It was a gorgeous day on the mountain!
Daddy and Tim got their workouts dragging these little rugrats around.
Snow Angels! Even though their feet and mittens were soaking wet, Chris and Nate couldn't get enough of the white stuff. Sitting down for lunch at Timberline Lodge---we were all very hungry from all of that playing in the snow and hiking in from our car. The road up to the mountain....see the blue sky? Thanks for the fun weekend, Big Tim!
